Parade Date:/Time:
The Cow Days parade will be held on Sat, Sept 17, at 2:00 pm, in downtown Dixon. Anyone participating in a judged category (e.g., floats, horses, car show entrants), should be at the high school no later than 1:00 pm. Judging will start promptly at 1:00 pm.
Float categories are: high school class floats, commercial, and non-commercial (churches, non-profit groups). Floats categories will be judged separately.
Float Design Requirements:
The 2011 Cow Day's theme is "We Salute America's Heroes". The Dixon Chamber of Commerce requests that this year's floats pay tribute to American heroes, either an actual American hero or groups of people who do heroic deeds on a daily basis (as described below).
Float designs may portray an actual American hero who you feel has made a difference in the lives of others, either through a lifetime of work, or through one crucial event that catapulted the person to heroic status. The hero can be dead or still living. You may select two or more people if these people worked together, or if you are depicting heroes of a certain era (e.g., World War II heroes, women's suffrage movement heroes, civil rights movement heroes, etc.)
Instead of selecting an individual person(s), floats may pay tribute to groups of people in general who do heroic deeds on a daily basis as part of their vocation. Examples would be the armed forces, firefighters, police officers, emergency workers, teachers, etc. (don't limit to the ones stated here).
